Meditation practice isn't about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It's about befriending who we are already.

stopping and looking deeply in order to enter the domain of concentration and insight.

The mind sees the world as a thing apart,   And the soul makes the world at one with itself.   A mirror scratched reflects no image—   And this is the silence of wisdom.

Everything that we encounter in life is the result of our own actions.

A mind that is fast is sick. A mind that is slow is sound. A mind that is still is divine.

to hear the voice of the silence is to understand that from within comes the only true guidance;

The silence of the cross is the most important secret in the attainment of both perfect healing and reparation.

The first step in this meditation is to gain a clear sense of the reified status of the 'I' as inherently existent.

Listen more than you talk—and resist the temptation to fill awkward conversation gaps with awkward conversation. The uncomfortable silence is always better than saying something silly you may regret later.

Meditation, stillness, time simply to 'be', to do nothing at all and to do it with joy

The point is that whatever one is trying to learn, it is necessary to have firsthand experience, rather than learning from books or from teachers or by merely conforming to an already established pattern.

By setting our motivation strongly in the morning when our mind is fresh and clear, we are much more likely to remember it during the day and act with that intention.

Meditation is a time to focus, train the mind, and bring it to stillness. It is not a time to rest and relax.

You need to know that you are a spiritual being so that you can do helpful things to allow your innate qualities to unfold and express.

Therefore the thing is not to battle anymore, not to try and sort out the bad things and only achieve good, but respect them and acknowledge them.

To all who want to accomplish something I say, Go into the silence regularly for power and wisdom to accomplish.

Withdraw your awareness from everywhere and just let it rest within yourself, and you have arrived home.

Wisdom may be perennial, but to see its relevance we must see it lived out.

Calm the chaos, silence the chatter.  Become one with your energy that is timeless.  Then and only then will there be unification with your participation in this timeline.     Seek the silence.'

In the face of beauty, we are silenced, because beauty expresses silence.

Detachment doesn't mean I'm trying less hard. It just means that fears and emotions that used to torment and paralyze me no longer have the same power over me. Getting to this point hasn't always been easy; it took me years to really learn to silence my mind. But as you move through your career and your life, you will have to learn that if you're not what you do, then what you do has no business keeping you entertained at night.

But here's the thing: Happiness doesn't come from outside. Other people can't make us happy. Money, objects, possessions, things... none of that can make us happy. Happiness must come from within.

If we had a keen vision and feeling of all ordinary human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow and the squirrel's heart beat, and we should die of that roar which lies on the other side of silence. As it is, the quickest of us walk about well wadded with stupidity.

He sometimes wished that every human was allotted a certain number of words to use for their lifetime. When the allotment ran out, that person would be forced into silence.

Worrying is worthless. When you stop focusing on what has already happened and what may never happen, then you'll be in the present moment. Then you'll begin to experience joy in life.

When you are facing a stressful situation, use the concept of an inner smile to step back from the problem and bathe it in Divine love.

we remind ourselves that all things change and the difficulty we face today will also change.

We live in such a noisy world that many of us have come to be afraid of silence. We think that if only we do a great deal, it does not much matter what we are.

Meditation on the majestic energy of the universe should increase our love for humanity, should widen, not narrow, our hearts.

Through meditation we can learn simple exercises to help us understand and control our thinking. We can learn to gain access to powers of spirit that connect us to realms of higher thinking and knowledge. Most importantly, we can learn the balance of mind and spirit that is so necessary to make life enjoyable and fruitful.
